Welcome to the AXIS Step into Spring Challenge!
Do you like to move it, move it? If so, this challenge is for you! According to the WHO, around 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men do not do enough physical activity to stay healthy! We want to support you to get moving this spring and go that bit further!
The Goal
Log as many steps or minutes of activity as you can between the 6th of April and 25th of May.
How to participate
Keep track of the number of steps or minutes of activity you take each day and log them weekly on Applause.
Tracking your activity
- Track your movement with a fitness watch. Examples include FitBit, Apple Watch, Garmin or something similar
- Track your steps with a Smartphone app. There are many free apps that can be used to track steps and physical activity. If you have an iPhone, use the Health App (click here for help setting up this feature on your iPhone)
- If you have an Android phone, use the Google Fit App (click here for help setting up this feature on your Android phone)
- Get social - why not share some of the fun activities on LinkedIn using #LifeAtAXIS
Rules
- Log your weekly activity (you must participate for a minimum of 4 weeks to be eligible for prizes)
- Upload a screenshot of your weekly activity tracker to Applause
- Goal is to reach 10,000 steps a day or activity equivalent (click here to review conversion chart)
Health facts
- The average person walks 3,000 to 4,000 steps a day, or roughly 1.5 to 2 miles (1.6 to 3.2km) (Mayo Clinic, 2020)
- Taking 10,000 steps a day, or roughly 5 miles/8.04km, is considered a healthy goal if you want to be healthier and give your overall wellness a boost
- We encourage you to speak to your health practitioner before participating in any new physical activity
Prizes
Every employee who participates for a minimum of 4 weeks will be entered into a draw to be in with a chance of winning one of the following prizes:
- GRAND PRIZE: 50,000 Applause Points
- RUNNER UP: 25,000 Applause Points
- PARTICIPATION POINTS: 500 Applause Points for signing up & weekly Applause awards
